Conti's with the Siblings

It's very rare that Ate Star, KB and I get to go out with just the three of us. You know, conflicting work skeds.

But each time we do, we make sure to spend it at a place we really, really like.

So last Tuesday, KB picked us up from the office (in the case of Ate Star, Megamall is her office! Ahaha!), we decided to eat at our old favorite --  Conti's.

We love Conti's because their food is simple -- nothing too pretentious-- and all very, very tasty. They also have a good mix of Pinoy and continental dishes.

We went to their Katipunan Extension branch, because we pass it by on our way home. I like this branch of Conti's a lot. The interiors are pretty, the place well-lit, and very, very spacious. The servers are all very friendly and attentive. The only problem we had was the parking space. But, we managed.

So, here's what we ordered:

Mango Royale Salad. Mangoes, chicken and Conti's special house dressing.

Entrees:

For Ate Star: American Grilled Ribs with Mashed Potato. Pork was super tender! :)

For KB: Chicken barbeque, with java rice and atchara. Classic kasi ang taste ni KB.

Me: Chicken Marsala. Chicken breast with mushrooms and creamy Marsala wine sauce. This is served with Russian potato salad and rice. Ang sarap nung sauce.

What's a meal at Conti's without their fabulous cakes, right?

A slice of Viennese Mocha Torte. Five-layered cake, like the choco-mocha version of Mango Bravo. Hehe! It's just quite difficult to describe! But it's yummy.

And!

Conti's newest: Tiramisu Cheesecake. You heard it right! Grabe. Separately, these two are already my favorites... but combined! Heaven!!

Great meal. Even more awesome dessert. And super fun conversations with my Ate and Kuya.

Syempre, we wouldn't forget about our parents. Strawberry Shortcake for them.

The cakes! I would stay here and never leave. Hehehe!

Until next time,

Mom's Birthday

Today is my Mom's birthday. I won't tell you how old she is, but I assure you, she doesn't look her age at all.

This morning, we bought breakfast from McDonald's (drive thru!). Pancakes and Sausage McMuffins and hash browns and cups of hot chocolate for everyone.

At lunch, Mom cooked tapa we bought from Divisoria, and I binged on Three Musketeers and Milky Ways! :)

In the afternoon, Kuya Botchie (KB) and I, and our little friend Rafa (our five-year old kapitbahay) watched The Avengers on KB's computer. Is it just me? Pero hindi ko na-gets yung The Avengers. Also, Iron Man got too much screen time. But I really liked Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Hope he gets his own movie, too!

I also promised Mom I would clean my room (as a sort of birthday present), I ended up taking a nap for two hours. Hehe. I need to make it up to her some way.

At six pm, we went to Mass, then ate at a Chinese Restaurant near our house. Mom doesn't like eating out so much, except when it's in a Chinese resto.

Tomorrow's also going to be busy because my Titas and cousins are coming over for lunch. They are going to bring over my Mom's birthday cake, which my cousins usually buy from this really old-fashioned bakery in Pasig. Really good cake. I love it so much.

That's how birthdays usually go in this house.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Cake Update: Here's my Mom's (Tessie) birthday cake. My Mom's eldest sister (Clarita) is also celebrating her birthday in August, so they put her name there, too.

Soft sponge cake, enveloped within the yummiest marshmallow icing, and topped with very pretty, traditional cake decor.

Until next time,

Binky
